APPLE COBBLER 
1 stick butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. self rising flour
1/2 c. Crisco
1/3 c. milk
2 c. chopped apples
1 tsp. cinnamon

Melt butter in 9"x13" Pyrex dish or pan. Heat sugar and water in saucepan until sugar melts. Cut shortening into flour; add milk and mix with a fork until dough leaves the sides of the bowl. Turn out into two rectangles 1/4" thick. Sprinkle cinnamon over apples. Put half of apples on each piece of dough. Roll up like a jelly roll. Dampen the edge of dough with a little water and seal. Slice dough into about 16 pieces. Place dough in pan with melted butter. Pour sugar syrup carefully around rolls. Bake 55 to 60 minutes at 375 degrees. Can serve with ice cream.
