DANISH - DATE - WALNUT BREAD 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Pinch of salt
2 eggs, beaten
3 tbsp. molasses
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. brewed coffee
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening with sugar. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla. Add eggs, molasses, flour, baking powder, nuts, and dates. Combine coffee and soda and add. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until it tests done.

Note: You may add any kind of fruit or nuts desired.
