SURPRISE MERINGUES | |
2 egg whites at room temperature 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 6 oz. chocolate chips 1/2 c. candied cherries (or any other variations desired) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until frothy. Gradually add sugar, then vanilla. Beat until soft peaks form. Fold in remaining ingredients. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet covered with foil. (Foil may be greased if desired.) Place in oven for 30 seconds. Turn off heat. Leave in oven for at least 5 hours. Yields 2 dozen. |
