RYE DINNER ROLLS | |
2 c. milk 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 envelope dry yeast 2 eggs 1/4 c. shortening 3 c. rye flour 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 egg, for egg wash Scald milk. Add sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast, 2 eggs, shortening and rye flour. Beat well. Add white flour gradually to make medium-stiff dough. Beat until smooth. Let rise in warm place until doubled in size. Form into buns, the size of large eggs. Let rise again. Do not knead. Place on greased pan. Brush with well beaten egg. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes. Submitted by: Julia Kennedy |
