GUMDROP NUT BREAD 
Shortening
3/4 c. tiny gumdrops
1/2 c. walnut pieces
3 c. all purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 1/3 c. milk
1/3 c. cooking oil
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease loaf pan. Cut gumdrops in pieces and put in bowl. Crush nuts and put in bowl with gumdrops. Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in bowl with gumdrops and nuts. Mix well. Beat egg in separate bowl. Put milk, oil and vanilla in bowl with egg. Mix well. Pour the egg mixture into the gumdrops mixture. Stir until all dry ingredients are wet. Mixture should be lumpy. Pour into loaf pan. Bake for 60 to 65 minutes. Check to see if bread is done with toothpick. Cool completely before cutting.
