DATE OR PRUNE LOAF 
1 1/2 c. boiling water poured over
1 1/2 c. dates or prunes, cut in pieces
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. nuts
1 egg beaten
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Bake 1 1/4 hours in 350 degree oven. Substitute prunes and the 1 1/2 cups of boiling prune juice instead of the water. Bake in loaf pans.
