JOAN'S APPLE PIE-CAKE 
1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts

In 3 quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove from heat. Blend in sugar and egg. Add remaining ingredients; mix until blended. Turn into greased and floured 9 or 10 inch pie pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes until top springs back when lightly touched.

Serve warm or cold, cut in wedges, topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
