CRACKLE-TOP GINGER COOKIES | |
1 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1 c. molasses 4 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves Thoroughly cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and mix well; stir in molasses. Sift together dry ingredients and combine with molasses mixture. Chill thoroughly. Roll dough into balls 1 inch in diameter; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees (moderate) for 18 to 20 minutes. (Do not bake this recipe while humidity is high.) Makes 5 dozen 2 1/4 inch cookies. |
