FIG PRESERVES 
2 lbs. figs
2 lbs. sugar
1 lemon
1 c. water

Peel figs. Make syrup by boiling sugar and water together. Add figs and thinly sliced lemon and boil 1 minute. Lower heat and cook slowly 30 minutes. Let stand 12 hours. Pour in cold sterile jars and seal.
