BRAISED RED CABBAGE 
2 lbs. red cabbage
2 strips bacon, cubed
1 onion, diced
2 tart apples, peeled, cored & sliced
1 c. dry white wine
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar
Freshly ground pepper to taste

Quarter cabbage and shred finely. Brown bacon in large saucepan. Add onion and apples; cook briefly. Add wine; bring to a boil. Add cabbage; sugar and pepper. Bake, covered at 350 degrees until cabbage is tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Stir in vinegar. Serve and enjoy.
