GRANDMA'S REFRIGERATOR ROLLS | |
1/4 c. shortening (Crisco) 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. hot water 1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry yeast, softened in 1/4 c. warm water 1/2 c. cold water 1 egg, beaten 4 c. flour Mix together shortening, sugar, salt and 1/2 cup hot water. Add softened yeast to shortening and sugar mixture. Add cold water and beaten egg. Stir in flour. Put in refrigerator, covered, and when ready to use, roll, cut with biscuit cutter or own designs. Put in pan, let rise until doubled and bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. If using immediately, let rise until double, punch down, roll out and let rise again. Dough will keep in refrigerator for 5 days if covered with damp cloth and wax paper. |
