GALUMKI
1 lg. head cabbage, loose leaf

Core and steam to loosen each leaf individually as it softens.

1 lb. hamburger (mix pork and beef)
1 c. rice, preboil and rinse
1 med. onion browned in butter
2 eggs
1 lg. can puree
1 can tomato soup
1/2 lb. bacon

Mix hamburger, browned onions, cooled rice, eggs, salt and pepper to taste. However, be generous with the pepper and mix well.

Brown bacon strips (well browned) and set aside.

Simmer tomato soup with 1 can of water and the puree for about 15 to 20 minutes.

When cabbage is softened and leafed individually put 1 heaping tablespoon of hamburger mixture into each leaf and roll beginning at core end of leaf to roll and folding over sides to tightly close. If any of the leaves are left, line bottom of large roasting pan with them.

Place galumki in pan, pepper top lightly and pour the tomato soup and puree mixture over it. Top with browned bacon strips and bake at 325 degrees for approximately 2 hours. Check periodically to be sure they are not becoming dry.
