SCALLOPED HAM & CABBAGE
CASSEROLE
 
2 qts. coarsely shredded cabbage
2 c. diced, cooked ham
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. milk
1 tsp. celery seed
1 c. shredded cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
2 tbsp. melted butter

Cook cabbage in boiling water (6 to 8 minutes), drain. Saute ham and onion in butter in skillet. Stir in flour. Add milk, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Add 3/4 cup cheese, celery seed and salt.

Place layers of cabbage alternately with layers of ham mixture in a 2 quart casserole. Combine bread crumbs, butter and remaining cheese. Sprinkle over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes until top is golden brown.
