MOM'S HOT CHOCOLATE SAUCE 
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 sq. baking chocolate OR 3 heaping tbsp. cocoa
1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. corn syrup

Melt the chocolate over hot water in a double boiler. Add the butter, corn syrup, boiling water and sugar, boiling constantly. Finish cooking over direct heat, boiling and stirring constantly for 3 minutes. Cool and add the vanilla. May be kept in the refrigerator for a long time, but it never does around our house because it's delicious over cake or ice cream.
