APPLE DESSERT 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 med. apples, sliced
1/2 c. pecans (optional)

1. Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well.

2. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Mix well.

3. Stir in apples and pecans.

4. Bake in greased 9 inch pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve plain or with sauce.

SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. Half and Half
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes. Yield about 2 1/2 cups.
