2/3 c. milk or cream
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3-4 tbsp. butter
8 slices bread, white or whole wheat

Combine eggs with milk, sugar, and salt in a shallow dish or pie pan. Dip bread slices one at a time into egg mixture, coating each side well. Transfer to a skillet which has been preheated with some of the butter. Brown slices over medium heat, turning once. Add butter as needed to keep slices from sticking.

Serve with butter, maple syrup, honey, jam or confectioners sugar. 8 slices French toast.

NOTE: To brown French toast in the oven, place bread slices on a well greased baking sheet. Place at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes for each side.
