1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tbsp. alum
1 qt. water
30 drops pure oil fragrance (spearmint, peppermint, lavender, lemon or orange)

Mix and cook ingredients (except oil fragrance) in top of double boiler until mixture is clear like starch. Remove from heat and stir in desired fragrance. Store in covered jar.
