SAUSAGE PINWHEELS | |
2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 3 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. corn meal 1/4 cup shortening 2/3 cup milk 1 lb. sausage, divided Mix dry ingredients. Blend in shortening. Add milk and mix well. Turn onto floured surface and knead approximately 1 minute. Divide dough into 2 parts. Roll about 1/4-inch thick. Spread each half with 1/2 pound sausage which has been softened to room temperature. Put rolls into refrigerator for about 1 hour. Preheat oven to 400°F. Slice 1/4-inch thick and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 400°F for approximately 15 minutes, or until lightly brown. Note: Can be made ahead and frozen. |
