CREAMY HAM AND BROCCOLI 
1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) green split peas
2 1/2 qt. water
1 meaty ham bone
1 1/2 cups sliced onions
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1 cup diced celery
1 cup sliced carrots
potatoes as desired
1 tsp. parsley flakes
salt to taste

In a large kettle, combine peas, water, ham bone, onions and seasonings. Simmer, covered, for 2 hours. Remove bone, cut off bits of meat and return to soup along with celery, carrots, potatoes and remaining seasonings. Cook 45 minutes. Serve with French bread.

Makes 12 servings.
