SPONGE CANDY 
1 c. sugar
1 c. dark corn syrup
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. baking soda

Combine first three ingredients in 2-quart glass bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on High for 3 minutes. Stir well, then microwave uncovered on High 10 minutes until thickened.

Test for 300 degrees F (soft ball stage) in cold water. Candy is done if threads are very brittle.

Quickly stir in soda, mixing well. Mixture will foam up as soda is stirred in. Pour quickly into greased 8 inch x 8 inch or 9 inch x 9 inch baking pan. Allow mixture to spread by itself; let stand until firm.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
