FROSTING FOR WHITE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening or butter
3 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
Dash of salt
4-5 tbsp. cream, milk or hot water
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, add sugar gradually, stirring until well blended. Add salt. Stir in liquid a little at a time. Beat until fluffy. Add vanilla.
