KLUTGENS 
1 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 heaping tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. anise seed (pounded to a powder)
1/2 tsp. salt
Flour to make a stiff dough (about 8 1/2 c.)

Heat the shortening, molasses, and milk on a real low burner until melted. Then cool before putting rest of ingredients in. Mix to a stiff dough; then roll out the size of a dime. Place in freezer until hard. Slice and bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees (watch close).
