FLORIDA MANGO TIPS | |
Shop for Florida Mangos from May through late August, when they're at their peak availability and peak taste. Allow mangos to ripen at room temperature (chilling retards maturation). To tell if a mango is really ripe, inhale. At peak readiness, mangos give off a rich fruity aroma. You can try squeezing, but not all mangos yield to the touch. Add mango cubes to fruit plate, cobblers, chicken salads and casseroles. Serve mango slices as a tasty compliment to meat and vegetable dishes. Substitute mangos for peaches in your favorite recipes. They taste great wherever peaches do. (Hint: ice cream). Store uneaten peeled mango sections in a covered container in the warmest part of your refrigerator. Use green mangos to make chutneys and relishes. Stew green mangos or use them for a pie filling. |
