CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS 
chicken
3 1/2 c. water
2 bay leaves
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. parsley
1 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. sage
1/4 tsp. garlic
1/3 c. flour
1 c. water

Dumplings:

1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. oil

In a large pot, combine water and chicken with seasonings. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 2 hours. Remove chicken and cut into bite size pieces. Add flour and 1 cup water to mixture. Return chicken. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Make dumplings and drop from tablespoon into boiling water. Simmer over low heat until a toothpick inserted into dumplings comes out clean.
