NEVER-FAIL MEAT LOAF | |
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef or ground chuck 1/2 lb. lean pork (Owen's or Jimmy Dean sausage) 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. sweet leaf basil (crumble in hand after measuring) 1/2 tsp. soy sauce 1 med. onion, chopped 1 green pepper, chopped 2/3 c. cracker crumbs 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/3 c. milk 1/4 c. tomato sauce (1/2 of 8 oz. can - use other half to spread over meat loaf before baking) Mix all ingredients well. Form into a loaf shape approximately 2 inches deep. Spread remaining tomato sauce over loaf. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, then at 350 degrees for 1 hour, using a 13 x 9 inch pan. |
