SHOOFLY MOLASSES CAKE 
4 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 tbsp. baking soda

Mix flour an sugar in a bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup mixture for topping. Mix molasses and soda with 2 cups warm water in a bowl. Add to flour mixture; mix well. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Sprinkle reserved mixture over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until cake tests done.
