1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar, add egg and dry ingredients. Chill dough and roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Frost when cool.
