DATE WALNUT CAKE 
1 c. flour
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. raisins
3/4 c. boiling water
1 tsp. level baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon powder
1 lg. egg
3/4 c. butter or vegetable shortening
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Heat oven to 375 degrees. In the cakepan put sugar, brown sugar, softened butter, slightly beaten egg, chopped dates, raisins, then pour in the hot water. Mix all these ingredients thoroughly with a wooden spoon. Add in flour and soda. Blend all ingredients thoroughly. Garnish top with chopped walnuts. Place pan on the middle shelf of the preheated oven (375 degrees). Bake 30-40 minutes.
