PAPER BAG APPLE PIE 
Use Mrs. Smith's green apples.

4 or 5 lg. apples or 2 1/2 lbs.
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1 unbaked pie crust

Place peeled and sliced apples in a large bowl. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and nutmeg; sprinkle over apples. Toss to coat well and put in pastry shell. Drizzle apple mixture with 2 tablespoons lemon juice.

Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour for topping in bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup butter and sprinkle over apples evenly. Slide pie into heavy brown paper bag. Replace shopping bag. Fold bag end and fasten with paper clip. Place on cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 1 hour. Slit bag open; remove pie and cool good.
