OATMEAL/RAISIN COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. solid Crisco
1 c. sugar
2 slightly beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 c. raw oatmeal
1 c. nuts

Cook 1 cup raisins in enough water to cover for 5 minutes. Drain and save 5 tbsp. of the liquid. Add 1 teaspoon baking soda to the liquid. Set aside.

Cream 1 cup Crisco and 1 cup sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add the flour alternately with the liquid mixture. Mix in oatmeal, nuts, and raisins. Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes in 425 degree oven.
