OLD - FASHIONED VEGETABLE BEEF STEW | |
1 1/2 lb. stew meat (beef) 2 tbsp. cooking oil 2 potatoes, peeled & cubed 2 med. carrots, cut into 1/2" pieces 1 med. onion, cut into wedges 1/2 c. sliced celery 1 (9 oz.) frozen cut green beans 3 tsp. quick cooking tapioca 1 tsp. beef bouillon granules 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 3/4 tsp. dried thyme 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes 1 1/2 c. water Brown meat and drain well. Combine all other ingredients in large crockpot or Dutch oven. Add meat. If in conventional oven: Cook 350 degrees for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Do not lift lid during cooking time. If in crock pot cook on low heat for 10-12 hours or cook on high for 5-6 hours. Serves 6. |
