FRENCH COOKIES 
2 c. brown sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1 c. vegetable oil
1 c. raisins (optional)
1 c. pecans (optional)

Add all ingredients - boiling water last. Mix well until smooth. Bake on large cookie sheet - 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Test with toothpick (do not over bake). Cut in squares and frost lightly when cool or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
