1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening or butter
2 eggs
3 tbsp. milk to which add 1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cream of tartar
3 c. flour

Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight. Roll and cut. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Frost if desired.
