BAVARIAN NUT ROLL | |
1 pkg. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 1 tsp. sugar 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. butter 2 eggs, separated 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 3/4 c. nuts, chopped Dissolve yeast in water and sugar. In separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in butter. Beat egg yolk with fork and add to yeast, then to flour. Mix until smooth with spoon. Filling: Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla, and beat. Separate dough into two parts. Roll 9 x 13-inch rectangle. Spread filling on dough and sprinkle nuts. Roll like jelly roll using waxed paper as your roll. Slit 1/2-inch deep on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. |
