COFFEE LIQUEUR 
4 c. sugar
1/2 c. instant coffee (I use Sanka)
1/4 tsp. salt
3 c. water
2 1/2 c. vodka
3 tbsp. vanilla

In a 3 quart saucepan over moderate heat, stir together sugar, coffee, salt and water until sugar is dissolved. Rapidly bring to a boil and boil gently until reduced to about 3 1/2 cups, about 1 hour. Remove from heat; stir in vodka, then vanilla. Cool. Put in tightly closed bottle and store at room temperature.
