GRANDMA'S STEW 
1/4 c. oil
1/4 c. butter
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 pod garlic or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. chili powder

Boil the above ingredients on low heat until it gets brown. Add cut-up meat (about 2 pounds). When meat is half done, add 1/2 teaspoon pickling spice and 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed wrapped in cloth.

When meat is about done, add 1 tablespoon onion, 1 tablespoon vinegar and reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. When done, add 1/4 can tomato paste or catsup.
