SOFT PRETZELS 
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 1/3 c. warm water
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/2 - 4 c. sifted flour
1 egg
1 tbsp. water
2 tbsp. coarse salt

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease 2 baking sheets.

In large bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water. Stir until blended and yeast is dissolved. Gradually stir in sugar, salt and flour until a soft dough forms.

Knead dough for 5 minutes adding more flour if needed. When dough is smooth cut into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece to form a dough rope about 15 inches long.

Shape in a pretzel shape. Do all six pieces in the same way, placing them about 3 inches apart on baking pan.

In a small bowl mix egg and water - brush on pretzels and sprinkle on salt. Bake 15 to 20 minutes and sprinkle on salt. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Makes 12 pretzels.
