SKILLET HOT DISH | |
2 slices bacon, diced 1/2 c. chopped onion 1/4 - 1/2 c. chopped green pepper 1 lb. ground beef 2 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes (4 c.) 3/4 c. uncooked elbow macaroni 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 8 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded (or American cheese, cubed) Cook bacon until crisp in large skillet. Add onion and green pepper. Cook until tender. Stir in meat and brown. Add tomatoes, macaroni, salt, sugar and pepper. Cover and simmer, stirring often for 20 minutes or until macaroni is tender. Add cheese and heat until melted. More liquid can be added to keep from burning. |
