VANILLA BUTTER NUT CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. flour, sifted
1 sm. can evaporated milk (1 c. milk)
5 lg. eggs
2 sticks butter
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. vanilla butter nut flavoring
1 c. chopped walnuts
10 oz. jar maraschino cherries, drained

Cream sugar, Crisco, and butter; beat in eggs, one at a time. Add flour and milk alternately ending with flour. Add flavoring, walnuts and cherries. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 2 hours at 325 degrees. START IN COLD OVEN!
