STREUSEL-FILLED COFFEE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter or shortening
1 egg, well beaten with 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Filling

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in butter with knife or pastry blender until mixture resembles fine cornmeal. Blend in well-beaten egg mixed with milk. Add vanilla; beat just enough to mix well. Pour half the batter into well-greased and floured square pan. Add half the Filling. Add remaining batter; cover with remaining Filling. Bake in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.

FILLING:

1/2 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1/2 c. chopped nuts 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. melted butter

Combine all ingredients; mix well.
