SWEET MANGOES
1 peck mangoes
2 lbs. granulated sugar
1 1/2 lbs. white Karo syrup
4-5 tbsp. Wesson oil
1/4 c. salt
1/4 tsp. salicyles acid

Put water in a medium size pan and bring to a boil. Drop mangoes into boiling water, one at a time. Let water come to a boil with mangoes in it. Once the water boils, remove mangoes and drain. Put mangoes in jars. Make syrup of sugar, Karo, oil, salt and salicyles acid. Cook syrup until clear. Pour the hot syrup over mangoes and seal jars. Leftover syrup can be refrigerated for future use, or used as a base for salad dressing.
