DATE PUDDING AND EASY SAUCE 
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cube butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 lb. pitted, dates, chopped

SAUCE:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Nutmeg to taste

Dissolve soda in 1 cup hot water. Pour over dates and let stand while mixing the batter. Add dates and steam 1 hour at 350 degrees. Put pan of water on shelf below the pudding.

SAUCE: Cook until thick the sugar, cornstarch and water. Add the butter, vanilla and nutmeg. Serve warm.
