1 lb. sweet butter
1 c. powdered sugar
4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
In large bowl of electric mixer, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add flour, a little at a time, until blended. Chill about 45 minutes. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Sprinkle a board lightly with mixture of flour and sugar. Spoon out about 1/3 of the dough onto the board. Pat dough to 1/4 to 3/8 inch thickness. Cut cookies with 1 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Prick tops twice with the tines of a fork. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
