MARY'S IRISH SODA BREAD
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
6 tbsp. sugar
1/2 pkg. raisins
1/2 stick butter
1/2 qt. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt

Sift dry ingredients over butter and cut in well. Add raisins and mix well. In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk with the baking soda, then add 1 teaspoon salt. Mix well and let set until the foam settles.

Mix in with the rest of ingredients. Pat in a 9-inch round pan. Cut a cross in top of loaf and say a hail mary that you didn't screw it up. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 50 minutes. Double the recipe and make 2 loaves at a time.
