MOM-MOM'S STRAWBERRY PIE 
SAUCE:

1 c. sm. or cut-up strawberries
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. butter

(Read directions below for sauce. Do not combine all ingredients.

PIE:

1 baked pie shell
Strawberries to fill shell (cut up some to fit in between whole ones)

Cook small strawberries with 1 cup water until berries are mushy and light. Strain juice into another container. Mix sugar and cornstarch together. Add juice while stirring. Put juice mixture back into pan and cook until thick and clear and starts to bubble. Remove from heat and stir in butter. (If not red enough, add red food coloring). Cool slightly. Pour over strawberries in baked pie shell. Refrigerate until cool and firm. Serve with Cool Whip or whipped cream.
