RED VELVET CAKE 
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 c. cooking oil
3 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. vinegar
2 3/4 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and oil; add eggs and beat well. Add vinegar and food coloring; beat well. Sift dry ingredients; add alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla; beat well pour into cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Makes (3) 9 inch layers.

RED VELVET FROSTING:

1 stick butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box powdered sugar, sifted
1 c. chopped nuts (pecan and black walnut mixed)

Cream butter and cream cheese; add vanilla and sifted powdered sugar. Mix well. Add nuts and spread on cake.
