PEARS IN RED WINE
4-8 firm pears
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. red wine
1 1/2 c. water
Strip of lemon peel
2 inch piece cinnamon stick
Few drops red food coloring

Choose a dish that just fits the pears when standing upright. In the dish, place sugar, red wine, water, lemon peel, red coloring, and cinnamon. Amount will be the same for 4-8 pears. Microwave on high 5 minutes or until boils. Let cool slightly. Peel pears, remove the "eye" from base, leave stalk. Immerse pears in syrup. Cover with wax paper or lid and microwave on high 7 minutes. Serve with Chantilly Cream or Burgundy Sauce.

CHANTILLY CREAM:

3/4 c. cream
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix together until blended.

BURGUNDY SAUCE:

1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 c. plain yogurt
3 tbsp. red wine syrup, cooked with pears

Mix together until blended.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
