DATE BALLS 
1 (7 oz.) pkg. shredded coconut
3 c. white sugar
1 c. chopped pecans
1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
confectioners sugar

Mix milk and sugar in large saucepan. Bring to a full boil. Allow to boil 2 minutes. Add pecans, dates and coconut.

Continue to boil (stirring constantly) until it makes a soft ball when dropped in cold water. Remove from stove. Add vanilla and butter. Mix thoroughly and beat with mixer until creamy, about 10 minutes. Let cool. Form into 3 loaves and wrap in wet cloth. Allow to stay in refrigerator overnight. Take out small portions and roll into balls. Dip in powdered sugar. Store in refrigerator.
