BUTTER CREAM APPLES
4 med. apples, cored, not peeled
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. water
1/2 c. heavy cream

Place apples in a 1 1/2 to 2 quart round glass baking dish. Sprinkle with sugar, dot with butter. Bake at 450 degrees near center of oven for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring, basting and turning twice, until apples are tender.

Meanwhile, combine cornstarch, water and cream. Set aside. Remove apples and stir in cream mixture. Return apples to pan and bake 8 to 10 minutes more or until sauce thickens and bubbles. Serve warm with sauce spooned over.
