CHOCOLATE ICE-BOX TORTE | |
1/2 lb. (2 bars) German chocolate 1 1/2 tbsp. water 4 eggs, separated 2 tbsp. powdered sugar 1 c. whipped cream, beaten stiff 9 oz. vanilla wafers Blend water and chocolate over low heat. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add powdered sugar. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture. Add nuts. Fold in whipped cream. Cover 11 1/2 x 7 1/2 inch baking dish with whole vanilla wafers. Cover wafers with thin layer of chocolate mixture. Repeat layers of wafers and chocolate ending with chocolate. Chill 24 hours at least. |
